Perfectionists-in-denial get pouty when you point out our neuroses

So I got this email from my university practicum supervisor today. It is in response to a reflection I wrote for the lesson she observed last week, during which I got a cluster headache and was rendered useless:

"Hi, Ninja,

Thank you for sending the reflection, but I would have totally understood if you hadn't written one. Most importantly you need to take care of yourself. I know you have such high standards for yourself, and although that is commendable, I worry that you put too much stress on yourself.

Being a perfectionist (which I’m pretty sure you are), I know it is stressful to lower your own standards, but sometimes you must to survive. Schedule some relaxation time as a prescription for your headaches!

If I can help you in any way, please let me know. My thoughts are with you."

Yeah, so much for my thought that I've become more chill as my college career has gone on. I just got called out on being a perfectionist by a woman who sees me four times a semester.

On the flip side, isn't my supervisor the most understanding, caring woman ever? What a peach. I want to adopt her as my 2nd grandma.

(I've only ever had one. I remember thinking when I was little that it was so weird that people had two grandma's. Everyone on my mom's side was either whacked out or dead, so I never had a second thought about only having my dad's family claim me.)
