I started actually teaching, not just observing yesterday. I planned out a lesson with Mrs. K (my cooperating teacher) and prepped my ass off. 2nd period went fantastic. I had a blast, the kids seemed to have a good time. Awesome. Then 6th and 7th period rolled around and all hell broke loose. They were the naughtiest pieces of shit! Three of them got sent to the principal's office during my classes! The irony of it all was that they were being naughty, naughty children during a lesson on respect. I still enjoyed it in a weird way, but once I was finished, man was I exhausted. I think it was a third the kids' fault, a third the fact that I'm not used to only getting 6 hours of sleep a night and a third that I'm getting sick. I'm pretty sure I was running a fever all day today. Today, I gave 6th and 7th periods these grave, serious little talking-to's about how I was disappointed with how class went yesterday and what they did wrong, what they did right and how we were going to fix it together. Mrs. K told me afterwards that I got my point across, the kids accepted it and that I managed to seem like I cared for them in the process. Score! My entries are most likely going to be incredibly boring to you all from here on out. My entire life is going to be at that middle school, I'm guessing. Although, how's this for a tidbit? My roommate, Butterscotch, was apparently sick of hearing me cough because he met me going out the door with a bottle of medicine and a spoon. I looked it at, laughed and kept walking. He moved in front of me, insisting that I take it and then proceeded to pour a spoonful and FEED IT TO ME. My male roommate spoon fed me medicine this morning. Kinda creeeeeeep-py. It was the weirdest thing. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. |
