I actually did. I cleaned the house for hours Friday morning, took a long shower and then watched "Live Free or Die Hard" until J arrived that afternoon. We went shopping (I got a new swimsuit) and ate dinner. I got buzzed off my Mai Tai and we watched "Willow". God, that's a good movie. After "Willow", we went to Collegetown's fireworks show. It was really well done. The local symphony orchestra played music that was timed to the display and it was just really gorgeous. They played Aaron Copeland's "Rodeo: Hoedown" (the "Beef - It's What for Dinner" song) and my university's fight song. For whatever reason, I was strangely emotional. I guess it's just hitting that I've lived in this state for 22 years and now I'm leaving it. Not that the state I'm moving to is some foreign country or anything, but I do really love living in Collegetown. I don't regret getting the job in Mountaintown or anything, but I sure will miss this funny little state. After the show, J and I did some midnight shopping and got a whole bunch of junk - including beer. That we used to play the "Dirty Dancing" drinking game once we got to Harmony's. Basically, it's a game I made up. You have to take a drink every time someone in the movie says "Baby" and every time two people touch pelvises on screen. It's either a really great drinking game or a really terrible one. I was out of beer pretty darn quick. At about 3, we were all sleepy and a little drunk. I was going to pass out on the floor and let J and Emmy have the bed in McG's room, but J decided to (literally) drag me into the room and so all four of us 22 year old women slept together on McG's queen sized bed. I woke up at 8 with a headache (either a hang over or the product of sleeping four to a queen). Harmony, J and I watched Saturday morning cartoons until the rain stopped, then Harmony and I went to the farmer's market where I nearly lost my tonsils to a wickedly hot homemade salsa. I, of course, bought a jar. Then we went swimming in Harmony's pool, I got ridiculously sunburned, and Harmony had to go to work. I took an ice cold shower and managed to get most of the burn cooled enough so that I can stand wearing clothing. Not a bra, though, I have a lovely bright red strip of seared skin right where the strap would go. Luckily it's not even a little cold today. All in all, a much better weekend than I was anticipating. Now I kinda want a nap. Mmmm, nap. |
