I said Sundays were for napping! What happened?!

Where do I even start? Last week was incredible - as in hard to believe. Our new principal, Senor Nazipants, decided that teachers don't need work time during the work days before school - heck no! They need 8 hours of "professional development" meetings a day! Which was wonderful for me, because after 8 hours of those God awful meetings, I had to go to softball, then go back to school to actually get shit done for school. Thursday was fantastic, because after meetings all day and working through lunch, I had softball practice, then a softball coaches' meeting during dinner and then another all school coaches' meeting until 9 PM. It was freaking fantastic.

I went to work for about 2 hours today and feel marginally less stressed and more prepared, but I am really not ready for school to start tomorrow. Good thing Senor Nazipants has decided that tomorrow is going have the most messed up schedule ever to grace a school and therefore I'll only see my students (all 181 of them!) for about 10 minutes per class. It was also sprung on me at about 2:45 on Friday that I am the paid sophomore class sponsor and I am expected to give a 20 minute presentation to the sophomore class on Monday. Whee!

Three things that are not so cool that Senor Nazipants has decided to implement at our school:

1. Absolutely no PDA is allowed. Essentially, this means our kids cannot touch each other ever. No kissing, no hand holding, no hugging. Because "it's yucky". No, I am not kidding. Boy, do I ever wish I was.

2. No more warm ups for teachers. I am expected to greet each student as they enter my door and then get right into teaching as soon as the bell rings. They are to stay in their seats until the bell rings at the end of the period. That's awesome, seeing as I don't have a classroom and have to run like a student to get from room to room.

3. His general way of pronouncing his opinions as facts. That leaves little room for disagreements. Not good.

I think it's just a bit of culture shock. We're going from our old principal, who I saw at staff meetings once a month only, to a completely hands on, in your face kind of guy. Really, these two guys are at complete opposite ends of the spectrum. It's going to be an interesting year.

I'm going to attempt to update my diary at least every two days. That may not be possible during softball season and especially not during Homecoming Week (not only is softball super involved, but that's the absolute busiest week for class sponsors).

I need lunch. I've already been way too productive for a Sunday. And there's tons more work to do later.
